Mail Sorter Driver PRN

Job Summary and Qualifications

Responsible for sorting, scanning, loading and delivering inter-company mail to all MHS facilities.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Sorts , scans, and packs all work to be delivered to appropriate facility bins.
  2. Takes initiative to learn any new mail/delivery procedures to improve efficiency in the department.
  3. Recognizes impending crisis situations and institutes measures (such as adjusting priorities) to prevent further complications.
  4. Loads correct van/truck with mail to be delivered for each route.
  5. Answers phones, unpacks and shelves all supplies and equipment.
  6. Follows assigned routes for delivery in a timely manner.

Additional Job Functions:

  1. Uploads scanned delivery information in a timely manner with proper care of each scanner.
  2. Maintains appropriate logs for all keys, supplies and deliveries.
  3. Supports the mission and vision of the Methodist Healthcare System and demonstrates excellent customer service at all times.
  4. Understands and is committed to helping the Methodist Healthcare System and its associated facilities achieve its goals.
  5. Must learn and comply with System and facility safety policies and rules; must use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; must immediately report all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisors (prior to job performance) if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.
  6. Adheres to the MHS Code of Conduct and demonstrates ethical behavior as expected by our patients, colleagues and the community. Understands the personal obligation to report any activity that appears to violate applicable laws, rules, regulations or the Code of Conduct itself. 
  7. Completes other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Ability to read and decipher names, address and numbers. 
  • Six months experience in a Mail, Sorting or Delivery setting, and knowledge of Computers are preferred.

Minimum License and Certificates Required:

Valid Driver’s License Required

Equipment Utilized:

Meditech, PC, PacTrac Scanning Equipment, Mail and Common Office Equipment

Environmental and Physical Demands/Hazardous Conditions: 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • INSIDE: Spends approximately 10 hours or more per week inside.
  • OUTSIDE: Spend approximately 30 hours per week outside (driving/running work related errands).
  • WORK POSITIONS: (defined in 10% increments of work time): Sitting 5 % Standing 90 % Walking 5 %
LIFTING/CARRYING DEMANDS

  • MEDIUM WORK: Lifting 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • HEAVY WORK: Lifting 75 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
