Medical Clerk
This full-time medical clerk role offers an exceptional opportunity to build your healthcare administration career while directly supporting New York State's workforce health and compliance operations. Who You Will Be Working With
You will be working with the central agency responsible for managing the civil service system, human resources, and workforce health programs for New York State. This specific team handles the critical medical evaluations, pre-employment physicals, and employee health screenings required to keep the state’s public workforce safe and operational. You will join a supportive, collaborative unit of seven staff members who are currently transitioning operations from a traditional paper environment into a modern electronic medical records system.

Major Duties
- File client medical charts accurately and neatly on a daily basis within assigned filing sections.
- Assist with data entry and document organization to support the transition from paper files to the new EMR system.
- Support the Employee Health Services department with keeping paperwork up to date during an influx of pre-employment physicals.
- Collaborate with a close-knit clerical team to maintain efficient daily office workflows.
- Handle sensitive documents with care to preserve data integrity and privacy.
- Assist clerical supervisors with ad-hoc administrative tasks or special projects as assigned.
What We Are Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of medical terminology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills paired with excellent time management.
- High attention to detail and the proven ability to handle confidential, sensitive information securely.
- Ability to complete the required state agency background verification paperwork upon selection.
Exciting Opportunity Details
- Rate: $21.00 per hour
- Length of engagement: Initially 6 months with potential renewal up to 1 year
- Days/Hours: Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week
- Location: Cohoes, NY 12047 (Free on-site parking provided)
