Grading Foreman – $47/hr Base + $31/hr Benefits ($78/hr Total Compensation)


We are seeking a skilled and dependable Grading Foreman / Heavy Equipment Operator to support and lead our grading crew. This critical position ensures precise site preparation for asphalt paving projects to minimize costly delays and material waste. The right candidate will have strong technical skills, leadership experience, and the ability to troubleshoot and make adjustments in the field.

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the grading crew to efficiently prepare sites for asphalt paving. 
  • Operate and direct use of equipment: graders (one GPS-equipped), skid loaders, rollers, and backhoes. 
  • Review blueprints and use transit or laser levels to verify grades and layout site stakes. 
  • Collaborate closely with the paving crew to ensure seamless transitions and minimize downtime. 
  • Quickly identify and resolve grading issues to prevent paving delays. 
  • Train and mentor crew members to improve skills and efficiency. 
  • Coordinate material deliveries and subcontractors to maintain smooth workflow. 
  • Drive company vehicles to and from job sites and oversee proper maintenance of tools, equipment, and vehicles. 
  • Communicate professionally with customers during all phases of the project. 
  • Ensure that safety protocols are followed by all crew members.

Requirements

Qualifications: 

  •     3–5 years of experience in grading, paving, or related construction work preferred. 
  •     Ability to read blueprints and use transit/laser levels accurately. 
  •     Strong leadership and communication skills to guide and collaborate with the crew. 
  •     Experience as a lead operator or strong potential to lead a crew is valued. 
  •     Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record. 
  •     OSHA 30 certification or ability to obtain within the first year of employment. 
  •     Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
