Plumbers & Steamfitters Local Union 166 Fort Wayne, IN is accepting Apprentice applications

Plumbers install piping that carries potable water to the building and drains that carry water and sewage away from the building. They also install gas lines in buildings. Plumbers use a variety of skills to install pipe systems. Both hand and power tools are used in cutting, bending, and threading pipes and making welded and soldered joints. Testing of piping installations to assure that the systems are functioning properly and meet all plumbing code requirements. Fitters assemble, install, and maintain pipes to carry water, steam, compressed air, gases, and fluids needed for processing, manufacturing, heating, or cooling. A fitter must be able to adapt and repair pipe systems and install appliances, heating and refrigeration units and do all types of pipe welding. Pipefitters install and repair high-pressure and low-pressure process piping, as well as piping for heating and cooling systems. Steamfitters install the supply lines and return lines of boilers. HVAC Service Technicians installs, troubleshoots, and services heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. Technicians must be aware of information concerning the installation and use of solid state controls, state of the art equipment, and methods which must be used to comply with the environmentally safe use and handling of refrigerants. They must also be familiar with all types of modern air conditioning equipment, energy conservation, heat recovery, sound abatement, and other topics.

Requirements

1. Must be at least 18 years of age. (See Section 111-B-2-- Qualification of Applicants for Apprenticeship in the National Guideline Standards of Apprenticeship.

2. Complete this application, and then provide Local 166 JATC with the following:
      a.     Birth Certificate or other such document for proof of age
      b.     Official  sealed transcript or high school equivalency (GED) certificate and official report of test results
      c.     Military transfer or discharge Form DD-214, if applicable


  Upon completion of the application, you will receive an email detailing the process for providing these documents to the apprenticeship.

3. Appear for interview when notified
