The Akron Area Electrical JATC delivers high quality training to apprentices of all different levels of education. Even if you only know how to screw in a lightbulb, our program will assist you to reach new levels of success. You just have to be willing to learn! Through the classes and on-the-job training, you will graduate as journey-level electrician. Your career starts on day one and only grows through the years!
The Akron Area Electrical Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (JATC) is accepting applications for the residential and commercial apprenticeship programs all year round. The Akron Area Electrical JATC has a four-year Inside Wireman Apprenticeship and a three-year Residential Wireman Apprenticeship. Both apprenticeship programs allow apprentices to work 40-hour work weeks with one of our IBEW Local 306 Contractors while attending classes two nights a week at our training center. Requirements
The following are minimum qualifications for the Inside Apprenticeship program. At the time of application, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age (or 17 years and a high school graduate)
- Have a high school diploma, GED, associate degree, or higher degree.
- Have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to get to any point within the program’s geographical jurisdiction at any time. The jurisdiction is Medina, Portage, Summit, and Wayne counties.
- Have successfully passed a high school or post education algebra course.
- Be physically able to perform electrical construction work.
- Have the legal right to work in the United States.
