SECURITY GUARD

You will serve as a Security Guard for DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY. This vacancy announcement may be used to fill positions at various Department of the Navy Commands, including but not limited to Marine Corps and Commander, Navy Installations.


  • You will direct vehicles and pedestrian traffic during emergencies and normal rush hour traffic to ensure that the entry control process is run in accordance with established procedures and naval regulations.
  • You will be required to appear as a competent witness in a court of law, may be required to testify on the results of investigations performed and violations observed.
  • You will plan, schedule, assign, and direct the work requirements of guard force personnel.
  • You will provide technical assistance and advice to employees and supervisors on the physical security programs, policies, regulations and procedures.
  • You will provide continuing inspection of and basic corrective actions for building security protective devices and systems to ensure that all physical security equipment and measures are functioning properly.
  • You will conduct physical security inspections of all buildings in the organization where sensitive work operations are located to determine if physical controls are adequate
  • You will ensure that only authorized personnel gain access to site.

Requirements

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Screening and/or inspecting personal and commercial vehicles requesting installation access; 2) Controlling personnel access by verifying identification/credentials; 3) Patrolling buildings or perimeters for suspicious activity; and 4) Maintaining desk logs, desk journals, and pass-down logbooks to document security events.
