The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W.) is comprised of proud union members with a wide diversity of skills and jobs. One of the most progressive unions in existence, the I.B.E.W. represents some 750,000 members in the United States and Canada. I.B.E.W. Local Union 673 members are inside electricians; highly trained to handle wiring and electrical installations and maintenance in residential, commercial, and industrial applications. Local 673 represents its membership throughout all of Lake County, much of Ashtabula County, and parts of Geauga County; covering much of the northeastern part of the state of Ohio. Local 673 offers its membership strong representation through solidarity and solid partnerships with signatory contractors.

Ready for a rewarding career?! What if you could earn the same amount per year (or more) as many college graduates, but without the student loan debt that comes along with it? According to US News, electricians rank as the 5th highest-paying job without a college degree.
As an apprentice you would receive 4 years of on-the-job training along with related classroom studies. You would also be a member of IBEW Local 673.Through the apprenticeship you will receive scheduled wage increases that coincide with work hours and successful completion of school year. You will learn many facets of the electrical industry while working beside qualified journeyman during the day at work assignments.
Then typically once a week in the evening you will attend school at the training center in mentor, were you will learn theory, the NEC electrical code, construction drawings, motor control, and many other important topics. It is a physical job. You will work outside in the elements at industrial or commercial facilaties. This would include new construction or remodel work.

This apprenticeship is qualified for use of the GI Bill, Veteran Readiness & Employment and other VA benefits.
If you have the attitude, aptitude and are willing to work, this will open the door to a very bright future.
There are many career options upon completion of the apprenticeship. You can work as a:
journeyman,
supervisor,
project manager,
union representative,
or even become your own contractor.
Some electricians continue their education and work toward an engineering or other technical four-year degree.
Requirements
The minimum qualifications for apprenticeship is:
a. Pay the $30.00 application fee and complete the aplication form online.
b. Be a minimum 17 years of age at the time of application.
c. Be a high school graduate, have a GED of have a two-year Associates Degree or higher.
d. Show evidence of successful completion of one full year of high school Algebra with a passing grade or one post high school Algebra course with a passing grade.
e. Provide an official transcript for high school and post high school education and training.All GED records must be submitted if applicable. Via email or mail.
f. Obtain a qualifying score of "4" or higher, using the electrical trade's aptitude test developed and validated by the American Institutes for research.
g. Possess a valid driver's license.
h. Submit a DD-214 to verify military training and /or experience if they are a veteran and wish to receive consideration for such training/experience.
i. Prior to being indentured, applicants from the pool of interviewed applicants will be required to provide results of a physical examination and a drug test as decided by the JATC.
j. Individuals who can verify (by providing undisputed documenting evidence) that they have worked a minimum of four thousand (4,000) hours specifically in the electrical construction trade, do not need to meet the requirements of items (c), (d), (e) and (f).
