Applications are accepted the first working Monday of each month at 216 Flora Drive, Jefferson City, MO. (from 8:30 to 11:30 A.M. & 1:30 to 4:00 P.M.) MUST APPLY IN PERSON

IBEW Local 257 was charted on December 12, 1925 and has been in service to our over 700 members for nearly 100 years. Our goal is to provide excellent training and education for our electricians. Prior to becoming Journeymen, our apprentices complete 5 years classroom education and 10,000 hours on-the-job training.

Requirements

  1. Be at least 18 years of age.
  2. Be a high school graduate or have a G.E.D. equivalency.
  3. Have completed one full year of high school algebra with a passing grade OR one post-high school algebra course with a passing grade.
  4. Live in one of the sixteen counties this local represents, which are: Audrain county (except Cuivre Township), Boone, Callaway, Camden, Chariton, Cole, Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Howard, Maries, Miller, Moniteau, Osage, Phelps, and Randolph counties.
  5. Be able to pass a drug test at time of job offer.
  6. Must posses a Valid Missouri Drivers License.
  7. Pay a non-refundable application fee of $35.00 (cash or check only)
  8. Submit a complete application as described below.
A completed application consists of:
  • A completed “Application for Apprenticeship in the Electrical Trade”,
  • A copy (raised seal) of your high school transcript (or G.E.D.). Note: If you are not a high school graduate you must still submit all high school transcripts along with your G.E.D. equivalency to prove the courses you’ve completed,
  • A certified copy (raised seal) of your birth certificate or other suitable document to prove you are at least 18 years of age.

You have 30 days from the date of your Application to provide these Documents:

  1. Birth Certificate
  2. High School Transcripts (Algebra)
  3. Proof of GED
  4. Any College Transcripts
  5. Any Military Service Records
